GQA Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Occupational Work Supervision (Construction) (CSCS Qualification)

Purpose and Scope

This qualification is designed to:

  • Recognise the competence of individuals supervising construction activities in a
    specific trade.
  • Provide formal recognition of supervisory skills and knowledge.
  • Support progression to supervisory roles and access to the CSCS Gold Card.

Entry Requirements

Candidates must:

  • Be occupationally competent in the trade they supervise.
    o Have verifiable experience in supervising teams.
    o Be working in a role that allows them to demonstrate the required
    competencies.

Review Cycle

GQA Qualifications reviews this qualification periodically to ensure:

  • Alignment with CSCS and industry standards
  • Relevance to current construction practices
  • Compliance with regulatory frameworks.

Content Overview

The qualification includes:

5 Mandatory Units covering:

  • Health and safety
  • Confirming work activities and resources
  • Coordinating and organising work operations
  • Confirming occupational methods of work
  • Developing and maintaining working relationships

Optional Units: Candidates must complete at least 2, allowing flexibility based on their trade and responsibilities.

The qualification certificate will carry an endorsement indicating the trade supervised
during completion.

Duration

  • Flexible and work based.
  • Typically completed over 3 to 6 months, depending on experience and pace.

Delivery Format

Workplace-based assessment.

  • No classroom learning required.
  • Evidence gathered through:
    o Observation
    o Professional discussion
    o Work product documentation
