Do I need to take the CITB test before or after my training course?

You can do them in either order. Most people complete their qualification course first (SMSTS, SSSTS, NVQ etc.), then book the CITB test before applying for the card.

How long is the CITB test result valid?

Operative, Specialist and Highway Worker results are valid for 2 years. Manager/Professional results are valid for 5 years.

What ID do I need at the CITB test centre?

You must bring valid in-date photographic ID — a passport or photocard driving licence. Paper driving licences are not accepted.

What happens if I fail the CITB test?

You must wait at least 3 days before rebooking. There is no limit on the number of retakes, but each attempt requires a new booking and payment.

Is the CITB test the same as the CSCS card?

No — they are two separate things. The CITB H&S test is one of the requirements you must pass in order to apply for a CSCS card. You also need a relevant qualification such as an NVQ or H&S Awareness certificate.

How much does the CITB test cost?

What is the CITB H&S test?

The CITB Health, Safety and Environment (H&S) test is a computer-based exam that assesses your knowledge of construction site safety. It is a requirement for obtaining or renewing a CSCS card, which is needed to work on the vast majority of UK construction sites.

The test is delivered by Pearson VUE at over 150 test centres across the UK, and results are available immediately on screen with a certificate emailed within 24 hours.
