Purpose & Scope
To refresh the knowledge and skills of individuals who have completed the full Mental Health First Aid course or a previous refresher within the last 12 months.
Content Overview
Delegates will be able to:
- Understand mental health and wellbeing factors (e.g. stress)
- Identify and respond to common mental health issues (e.g. anxiety, depression, suicide, self-harm, substance misuse, psychosis)
- Recognise early warning signs
- Apply the MHFA action plan
- Use active listening and communication skills
- Provide crisis support and guide individuals to further help
- Support recovery and reduce stigma
Renewal & Refresher
- No mandatory renewal; review every 3 years or on request
Duration
- 1 day (4 hours)
- E-learning: minimum 2 hours

Operatives and supervisors in the construction sector
Entry Requirements
Proof of completion of a full MHFA course or refresher within the past 12 months

Assessment
Trainer must confirm all learning outcomes are met
