Suicide Prevention and Intervention – Intermediate

Purpose & Scope

To provide learners with practical skills, knowledge, and confidence to recognise signs of suicide / identify individuals at risk of suicide, engage in supportive conversations, and carry out effective interventions. The course prepares learners to respond appropriately in crisis situations and connect those at risk with professional help, promoting safety and mental wellbeing in both professional and personal settings.

Key Learning Outcomes

Participants will be able to:

  • Understand causes and risk factors of suicide
  • Recognise verbal, behavioural, and situational warning signs
  • Communicate effectively and supportively
  • Apply immediate intervention strategies and refer to appropriate help
  • Navigate ethical responsibilities, including confidentiality and self-care

Renewal & Refresher

  • Every 25 months
  • 7-month grace period
  • Review every 5 years or on request
